Another two people have died from coronavirus in Greater Manchester - all today's deaths occurred in the North West

Two more people have died from coronavirus in Greater Manchester’s hospitals.

The region's hospital death toll now stands at 2,199, according to the latest figures from NHS England.

Both deaths were reported at Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust.

All four Covid-19-related deaths recorded in England on Monday occurred in the North West.

The patients were aged between 76 and 95-years-old and all had known underlying health conditions

As of Monday, September 7 the total number of coronavirus deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester stands at:

  • Bolton NHS Foundation Trust - 232
  • Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - 9
  • Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 453
  • NHS Nightingale Hospital North West - 6
  • Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust - 570
  • Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust - 6
  • Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - 184
  • Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 232
  • Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 241
  • The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 13
  • Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 253

Every single borough in Greater Manchester currently has a coronavirus infection rate above than the national average.

Bolton, which currently has the highest rate in the country, Oldham, Salford, Tameside and Manchester are now all on red alert - imposed by the government when the infection rate goes above 50.

Rochdale is also teetering on the brink of becoming 'red' with an infection rate of 49.5 per 100,000 people for the week ending September 3.

Each day the NHS in England publishes the number of deaths recorded by each hospital trust in the last 24-hour period.

These are deaths where the person had tested positive for the virus or where COVID-19 was mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS England's daily figures sometimes include previously uncounted deaths and they do not include deaths in care homes or community settings.
