A state service employee in Tasmania has been stood down over alleged sexual abuse, the fourteenth to face such accusations in recent months.
The worker from the state's north was on Friday taken off the job pending an investigation into an historical allegation of alleged sexual abuse.
"The allegation has been referred to Tasmania Police for assessment," the state government said in a statement.
"It is important to note that being stood down is not an indication of wrongdoing. The presumption of innocence until proven guilty must be upheld."
Fourteen state service employees have been stood down over abuse allegations in the past few months, 10 relating to historical allegations and four to contemporary accusations.
The state government in November announced a Commission of Inquiry would be set up in 2021 to examine sexual abuse in government institutions.
It was launched after allegations of sexual abuse were levelled against a nurse in Launceston and workers at the state-run Ashley Youth Detention Centre.
Prominent lawyer Marcia Neave, who chaired the royal commission into family violence in Victoria, is set to head the inquiry.
