Another street record set at Carrington auction

ABOVE GUIDE: This Carrington house was bought at auction for $936,000.

For the second weekend in a row, a residential street record result was achieved at auction for Carrington with the $936,000 sale of a double-fronted weatherboard home on a 272 square metre corner block at 28 Elizabeth Street.

The three-bedroom home was listed by First National Newcastle City's Mathew Iuliano with a guide of $700,000 to $770,000. That was adjusted to $740,000 to $780,000 due to the level of early interest. Eight bidders registered for the auction.

Strong interest has reportedly come out of Sydney's Hills District for a waterfront reserve home at 41 Balcolyn Street, Balcolyn that has been marketed by McGrath Toukley with a guide of $1.45 million and is set for auction at 2.15pm on Saturday.

Matt Barnes, of Richardson & Wrench Newcastle City, reported over 170 groups have been through two properties set for auction on Sunday.

A four-bedroom home at 15 Llewellyn Street, Merewether (12.30pm) has a guide of $1.25 million to $1.35 million and a three-bedroom house at 31 John Street, Tighes Hill (10.30am) $790,000 to $850,000.
