Another stat proving Titans’ A.J. Brown is an elite big-play WR

The Tennessee Titans offense made a sharp turnaround in 2019 when Ryan Tannehill took over the starting quarterback position in Week 7, but that was far from the only factor.

Wide receiver A.J. Brown recorded a historic rookie season for the Titans, reeling in 52 receptions for 1,051 yards and eight touchdowns. He also averaged 20.2 yards per catch — among the most impressive of his stats.

Brown was distinctly a cut above the rest in several areas, including receptions of 50 or more yards. In fact, with a total of six, he had two more than any wideout in the league, according to Pro Football Focus.

The network also recently noted that Brown is tied with the Minnesota Vikings’ Percy Harvin for the highest YAC per reception among wide receivers in the past decade (8.7).

Only George Kittle of the San Francisco 49ers (9.9) ranked above Harvin and Brown in that statistical area, while the Washington Redskins’ DeSean Jackson (8.5) and the 49ers’ Deebo Samuel (8.4) came up behind him.

Brown is expected to only continue to build off the momentum of his rookie campaign as he prepares for another year at the next level. It will be interesting to see just how big he can come up for the offense in his second year.
