Another significant rise in Covid cases in all four areas across Bristol region

A total of 35 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in all four areas across the Bristol area over the past 24 hours.

The latest figures (September 7), show 15 further patients were diagnosed with the deadly virus in Bristol, which now has 1,571.

In North Somerset, 11 more were recorded, taking the district's total up to 989.

While South Gloucestershire reported three new cases, which now has 870.

Bath and North East Somerset recorded a rise of six, the total there is 435.

UK-wide, 2,948 tested positive, bringing the nation's total to 350,100.

Covid deaths

Neither of Bristol's hospital trusts have recorded a new death over the past 24 hours, where deaths remain at 271.

Southmead Hospital reported a coronavirus-related death on Tuesday August 25, which was the first in the city for two months.

Nationally, three further Covid-related deaths were recorded, bringing the UK's total to 41,554.

New helpline

The figures come on the same day a new 24-hour mental health helpline has been rolled out to adults across the city.

NHS bosses are forecasting a 30 per cent spike in demand for mental health support as people grieve for loved ones, lose their jobs or are exposed to abuse at home.
