Rangers interim manager Barry Ferguson has confirmed that defender Rafael Fernandes is the latest injury concern for the club after being forced off during Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Aberdeen at Pittodrie.
The Portuguese centre-back was substituted in the second half after picking up a hamstring injury, compounding Rangers' growing fitness worries ahead of a crucial run of fixtures.
Speaking to Rangers TV after the match, Ferguson said: "Hamstring injury. I don't know how long he is going to be out, so that's another one to add to the long list.
"I'll just have to wait until tomorrow and Tuesday to see who I've got to go with on Thursday night [vs Athletic Club] and obviously make my decisions on what way I'm going to approach it and what personnel I'm going to go with."
Fernandes, 22, has rarely featured for Rangers since being signed on loan from Lille in January.
But with a huge Europa League quarter final second leg in Bilbao to think about, Ferguson made nine alterations to his starting XI for the trip to face Aberdeen.
The draw at Pittodrie leaves Rangers 15 points adrift of Celtic in the Scottish Premiership title race with five games to play, but Ferguson admits his immediate priority is assessing his squad's availability ahead of another high-stakes European night this week.
