Another new covid testing site has opened its doors in West Lothian

A new Covid-19 testing site has opened at Whitburn Community Centre.

Open daily from 9.30am to 4.30pm, the site is operated by the Scottish Ambulance Service and located within the centre’s car park.

The site is an Asymptomatic Test Site (ATS) for those who don’t have Covid-19 symptoms.

West Lothian Council’s ATS will also remain open at Armadale Partnership Centre.

A spokesperson said: "Many new cases are people who have the infection but show no symptoms and can therefore pass it on, unknowingly, to others. In the past, many of these people would not have been tested, and the disease would have continued to spread – resulting in lockdown and restrictions.

"The purpose of an Asymptomatic Test Site (ATS) - for those who don’t have Covid-19 symptoms – allows local people to go along and get tested. This helps stop the spread of the virus locally – so it’s really important that as many people as possible come along and get tested."
