Celtic came from behind to frustrate Rangers in a pulsating 1-1 draw at Ibrox, denying Barry Ferguson’s side a third consecutive Old Firm victory and prompting a pointed social media jab from Hoops hero Chris Sutton.
The final derby of the 2024-25 Scottish Premiership season may have been played with the title already wrapped up by Celtic, but the intensity was undiminished.
Rangers, desperate to end their campaign on a high, looked set for victory when Cyriel Dessers netted his 25th goal of the season just before half-time.
But Adam Idah scored on 57 minutes to earn Celtic a point and maintain their 17 point lead at the league summit.
After the final whistle, Sutton took to X to give his verdict on the result, writing: “Maybe another moral victory for Rangers?”
The former Celtic striker’s tongue-in-cheek comment quickly went viral, stoking the flames of rivalry and sparking debate among supporters.
The 'moral victory' comment first surfaced following Rangers' Scottish League Cup final defeat to Celtic on penalties in December, with Sutton referencing the loser mentality of the Light Blues - particularly ex-manager Philippe Clement - who had previously celebrated a 3-3 draw in April of that year.
