Another Merseyside school forced to send pupils home to isolate

Another Merseyside school has confirmed that it has been forced to send pupils home after positive Covid-19 tests.

Parents of pupils at Sacred Heart Catholic College in Crosby were sent letters on Thursday (June 24).

The letter said: "We have been informed that there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 in Year 7.

"Public Health England have worked with us to produce this letter.

"We have followed the national guidance and have identified that your child has been in close contact with the affected child.

"In line with national guidance your child must stay at home and self-isolate up to and including 4th July 2021 and return to school on Monday 5th July 2021.

"This means your child is to remain home at all times."

It is not known exactly how many pupils were sent home to isolate.

Pupils who have come into contact with the person who tested positive have been warned not to leave the house under any circumstance.

The letter goes on to say: "Your child must stay at home at all times during the isolation period. The consequences of not doing so could be very severe."

The school is the latest in a long list of Merseyside schools forced to send pupils home, with infection rates rising amongst younger people in particular.

King's Leadership Academy in Dingle sent pupils home earlier this month, with Broughton Hall in West Derby doing the same last week.

Sacred Heart was approached for comment but had not responded at the time of publication.
