More knee surgery for Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles.
Charles had arthroscopic surgery in his left knee Monday by orthopedic surgeon James Andrews. Charles had the same procedure on his right knee earlier in the month.
"The rehab is the same, we anticipate recovery will be fine, but we'll see how it goes," Chiefs trainer Rick Burkholder said Thursday.
Charles tore a knee ligament last season and missed the first three games this year before making his debut at Pittsburgh in the fourth week. He got his most extensive playing time in the next game at Oakland and scored a rushing touchdown.
Charles appeared in the next games, getting one rushing attempt against the Saints before. The Chiefs then shut him down after Charles said he was experiencing pain in both knees.
The Chiefs have used Spencer Ware and Charcandrick West at running back with Knile Davis and Bishop Sankey on the roster.
It remains unclear if Charles will play again this season.
Out with injuries and not practicing for the Chiefs on Thursday were defensive lineman Jaye Howard (hip), linebacker Derrick Johnson (hamstring), wide receiver Jeremy Maclin (groin), cornerback Marcus Peters (hip) and long snapper James Winchester, because of his father's death earlier in the week.
