Cases remain high in the area and today health secretary Sajid Javid confirmed that Omicron is spreading within communities - including in the South West. The exact location has not yet been confirmed.

There are now 336 omicron cases in the UK and the health secretary outlined the UK's plan to test people in the two days before they come to the UK.

From 04:00 am tomorrow anyone travelling to the UK from countries not on the red list must show a proof of a negative PCR or lateral flow test whether they are vaccinated or not.

He stressed these are "temporary measures while we improve our understanding of Omicron", adding that the data will be reviewed and the House of Commons will be updated next week.
