Another good turnout at Wishaw charity's clothes container sales day

Thrifty shoppers were able to pick up a bargain and help others at the same time as Charity@Home held their latest shopping open day.

The group set up by Wishaw mum Angie Cheney and her friends, with family selling good quality clothing at rock bottom prices from a container in the town’s Marshall Street.

The open days take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays each week and money raised from sales goes to buy supermarket food vouchers to be distributed to local families suffering financial hardship

The charity aims to help those whose current circumstances mean they are struggling to make ends meet.

Charity@Home are also holding regular open days on Saturdays every few weeks to boost the number of families they can help out.

They were blessed with fantastic weather for their latest sales day and managed to bring in more than £400.

Angie told Lanarkshire Live : “I want to thank all of the people and businesses who donated clothing and other stuff, and just as importantly, those who turn up and buy something.

"We couldn’t do it without them and every penny goes to helping local families.

"Every pound is a bonus.

“It went well, it wasn’t quite as busy as the last few have been but we still had a good turnout.

"With the great weather more families were away doing other things, while the sun is out.

“The clothes are always good quality and you can get a real bargain.”

Among those helping out on the day were Angie’s reliable husband; friends Gail Jeffrey and Linda Nicol, who are sisters; and regular helping hands Pauline, and daughters Sarah McCabe and Melissa Cheney.
