Another fringe Leeds United player nears Leeds United exit as Marcelo Bielsa trims squad further

Leeds United are set to let another academy product go in the near future, according to the latest reports.

Football Insider suggest that Tyler Denton, who spent last season on loan at Peterborough, will be allowed to leave the club.

He still has one year left to run on his contract, but the report suggests Leeds will pay it off to allow him to leave on a free transfer to League Two outfit Stevenage.

The 23-year-old left back, from Dewsbury, came up through the ranks alongside the likes of Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Kalvin Phillips. He made his debut under Garry Monk, making a total of three appearances in the domestic cups during the 2016-17 season.

But he’s never made a league appearance for his parent club and has spent the last two seasons out on loan, going to Port Vale before Peterborough last season.

Peterborough’s outspoken chairman recently gave a frank assessment of Denton’s spell at the club, before confirming he wouldn’t be back for another loan spell .

It appears that part of United’s strategy this summer has been looking to trim the wage bill by allowing many of the peripheral figures at the club to leave.

Others to have been let go by the club in recent weeks include fellow defenders Aapo Halme, who moved to Barnsley, and Liam Kitching, who went to Forest Green, while Lewie Coyle has been sent on another loan to Fleetwood. Mallik Wilkes has also left for Yorkshire rivals Barnsley.

Elsewhere, Caleb Ekuban is expected to finalise his permanent transfer to Trabzonspor and Yosuke Ideguchi will reportedly go back to his boyhood club Gamba Osaka.
