An activist asked the Election Commission to propose the disbanding of the Future Forward Party (FFP) to the Constitutional Court on Thursday.

Activist Boonthaworn Panyasit filed his request, along with a 20-page supporting document, at the Office of the EC.

He alleged that FFP leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit and party secretary-general Piyabutr Saengkanokkul had made several comments threatening to the constitutional monarchy.

The activist said both had also said they supported changing the lese majeste law and fulfilling the goals of the Khana Ratsadon (People's Party) that was behind the Siamese Revolution of 1932.

Mr Boonthaworn said he believed other organisations would file similar requests for the party's dissolution in a few days.

Meanwhile, in Trang province, FFP candidate Yosawat Teeratwatanakul was arrested while planning his election campaign at the party's branch office in constituency 3, in tambon Banna of Palian district.

He was named in an arrest warrant issued by the Phuket provincial court on Feb 11, 2016, for alleged fraud. Mr Yosawat was taken to Phuket for further action.
