Another Dancing On Ice star pulls out of 'cursed' show following injury

Dancing On Ice has suffered another blow after one of its professional skaters was forced to pull out of the show.

Due to a finger injury sustained off the ice, professional skater Hamish Gaman has withdrawn from the ITV skating competition.

Hamish, who was partnered with Coronation Street star Faye Brookes, snapped a tendon while putting on a sock.

The pro ice dancer has had to withdraw from the contest to allow his injury to fully heal.

An ITV spokesperson said: "Sadly we can confirm that Hamish Gaman, who has been partnered with Faye Brookes, has had to withdraw from the competition.

"We thank him for all his hard work and wish him the very best as he takes some time out to allow his injury to fully heal."

On Sunday night Hamish, 37, and Faye, 33, performed as Prince William and Kate Middleton on their wedding day during the Love Week theme for Valentine's weekend.

Hamish was signed off to perform by the show's medical team as safe to skate with some adjustments to the routine.

But after a follow-up examination this week medical experts concluded he was unable to continue in the contest to safeguard against any long-term damage.

Faye, from Flixton, will now continue in the competition with Matt Evers as her pro-skater partner.

Matt was previously partnered in the 2021 series with Denise Van Outen.

West End star Denise was forced to quit earlier on in the series after suffering three bone fractures as well as partial dislocation to her shoulder after a nasty fall in training.

Show bosses had already made the decision to give Dancing On Ice a week's rest to give its cast a chance to have a break.

The live show won't be on our screens this Sunday but it will return on Sunday February 28.

The popular long-running show has been hit by injury and illness since its launch last month.

Fans have questioned if there might be a 'curse' after so many contestants have left

Neighbours icon Jason Donovan missed Sunday night's show due to back pain and being advised to rest by medical experts.

Emmerdale actor Joe-Warren and pro skater Vanessa Bauer, had to leave the show following a positive Covid test.

Comedian Rufus Hound left the show for the same reason while Denise and TOWIE star Billie Shepherd both had to leave through injury.

Billie suffered moderate concussion following a bump to her head.

In place of Dancing On Ice this weekend there will be a special dedicated to the show which launched in 2006.

Entitled Dancing On Ice: The Greatest Show On Ice, screened at 6pm on ITV on Sunday, this one-off will celebrate the most memorable moments in the show’s history.
