Another Clap For Carers event is taking place in honour of all frontline workers

Last week, Glasgow's streets were filled with noise once again as people cheered and clapped in a moving tribute to our NHS workers amid the coronavirus crisis.

The UK-wide Clap For Our Carers movement was a huge success and offered an opportunity to thank the frontline healthcare workers across the country.

Now, a second Clap For Our Carers event has been organised for 8pm on Thursday (April 2), paying tribute to all frontline workers.

From NHS staff to shops workers, delivery men, vets, cleaners and more, the 8pm applause will be dedicated to the people that have continued going to work to deliver vital services.

A message on the Clap For Our Carers website reads: "What is the idea for the next edition? We will still be clapping, but this time we will add everyone that is helping our world to keep turning. All who are out so we can stay in.

"So thank you; shop workers, delivery men/women for food, good and mail, mailman/women, nursery teachers, bin collectors, veterinarians, cleaners, etc... Without you we are nowhere."

As part of the movement, the National Piping Centre is calling all pipers from across Scotland and beyond to join them in paying tribute to key workers.

The centre is asking all pipers to go into their gardens, front doors or strike up in their living room, and play Scotland the Brave.

A statement from the group read: "This rousing tune will demonstrate the gratitude to key workers across the nation, supporting those who are helping to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as hopefully fortifying them to carry on through this tough time.

"So grab your pipes and join The National Piping Centre at 8pm BST on Thursday April 2 and Pipe Up for Key Workers by playing Scotland the Brave for #NHStheBrave."
