Another Christian traveller event taking place in Nottinghamshire village

Police say another Christian traveller event is being held in Nottinghamshire.

Offers say it is taking place on a private field at Redhill Marina, Ratcliffe on Soar.

People turned up on Friday evening, July 12, police said.

A similar event has taken place in recent days on land near to Aslockton, which is close to Bingham and East Bridgford, just off the A52.

Police believe a "number of those in attendance at Aslockton have relocated here".

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: "Police have attended this evening (July 12) and spoken with the land owner and representatives from the event, and it is their intention to be at this location until Thursday, July 18.

"Police from your local neighbourhood teams will be conducting high visibility patrols throughout the duration of their stay."

Police said it is believed a number of people from the event in Aslockton have relocated to the site in Ratcliffe on Soar. The field in Aslockton has now been cleared.

The pastor from the Aslockton event told Nottinghamshire Live they were there to spread the word of Jesus Christ.

It comes after a Nottingham horse fair which arrived in Nuthall, just off junction 26 of the M1, in April was deemed a success by organisers.
