Another blow for Clare hurlers as Podge Collins commits to football for upcoming inter-county period

Podge Collins won't be a part of Brian Lohan's plans in Clare for the end of the National League campaign and the Munster SHC.

The Banner face Limerick in their first competitive game post-lockdown on Sunday, October 25, but will do so without Collins, according to the Irish Examiner.

The 28-year-old dual star is yet to confirm if he will be a part of the Clare football panel managed by his father, Colm, who are in danger of relegation from Division 2 in the League.

Former All-Ireland winner Collins had committed to the hurlers for the last three years and did play some part in their League games earlier this year off the bench as the Banner first on top of Division 1 Group 2.

The news will come as another blow to Lohan's side after it emerged last week that Colm Galvin will miss the championship with a groin issue.

John Conlon is also facing a race to be involved as he recovers from a cruciate ligament injury.
