This rise in cases comes after staff at Southmead Hospital said that it has "never been so busy", with ambulances having to wait and queue to offload patients.

Not only that, but a quarter of the beds at Southmead Hospital are occupied by people who are medically fit for discharge, but need help from family, friends, or the community to be able to get home safely.

The latest government data on Covid hospitalisations show that in the North Bristol NHS Trust (to which Southmead Hospital belongs), 77 patients are in hospital being treated for Covid, with 10 patients on a ventilator (correct as of Tuesday, November 2).

In the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust, there are 60 patients in hospital being treated for Covid, and 4 patients are on a ventilator (correct as of Tuesday, November 2).

However, vaccinations in Bristol continue apace, with a total of 341,500 first doses and 311,910 second doses delivered to residents.
