Another Bengaluru school finds bomb scare mail

BENGALURU: Panic gripped Bishop Cotton Girls School on Monday when school authorities found the four-day-old bomb scare email in their inbox. This was the same email that was sent to more than 15 schools in and around the city on April 8.

“The school authorities called Cubbon Park police inspector at 3.45pm, saying they had received the ‘bomb mail’. A bomb-disposal squad rushed to the spot by 4pm. After a thorough search for nearly two-and-half hours, the squad declared it to be a hoax,” said police sources.

“The email had reached them by 1pm on Friday, but was lost amid a lot of other mails that piled up in the inbox. The authorities found the said email while clearing the inbox on Monday,” sources said.

A couple of police officers examined the emails and told school authorities that they were the same mails that others had received on Friday. Meanwhile, police sources said they are still working on the emails sent to schools and that they were sent using proxy servers. “We are working with two software firms to trace the origin of the emails,” said a police officer.
