Another 'Banksy'-style artwork appears in Reading days after mural is vandalised

Another 'Banksy'-style artwork has appeared in Reading - just days after his first mural in the town was vandalised.

The new piece, which depicts a falling typewriter, has been spotted on Reading Bridge. And it has a number of similarities to a Banksy on Reading Prison, which showed an inmate escaping using a knotted spool of paper from a typewriter, reports Berkshire Live.

The first mural was vandalised earlier this week, with "Team Robbo" daubed in red paint at the bottom of the painting.

This is thought to be in reference to the late street artist King Robbo, who Banksy had a famous feud with in the 1990s.

That attack saw the typewriter at the bottom of the painting covered up with red paint.

An almost identical drawing of the typewriter appeared overnight between Wednesday, March 17 and Thursday, March 18.

Banksy's feud with King Robbo saw the two going head to head with each other's work, adding and removing elements of the existing creations.

One theory is the Bristolian artist has returned to Reading to create a new artwork after the vandalism.

However, it could also be the case a copycat has carried out the work.

The piece was spotted by a lady who lives nearby, who asked not to be named, during her morning walk along the Thames.

Crowds have been spotted taking pictures by the work throughout the day.
