Another arrest in Salt Ash murder

The Santa Fe found burnt out in Masonite Road, Heatherbrae after the shooting.

DETECTIVES investigating the shooting of a drug dealer at Salt Ash in August have made another arrest, charging a 28-year-old man with murder on Tuesday.

The man, who cannot be identified because of a suppression order, was arrested at Newcastle and later charged with murder, kidnapping and possession of a shortened firearm over the shooting in Hideaway Drive on August 29.

He did not enter any pleas or apply for bail and the matter was adjourned until January.

The man is the fourth arrested over the shooting and the third man charged with murder.

The other men - aged 26, 27 and 39, remain behind bars after being arrested earlier this month.

The victim - a 45-year-old drug dealer - was driving along Hideaway Drive, Salt Ash, about 1.45pm on Sunday, August 29 when he was shot in the face at close range by one of his passengers and crashed his car into a tree.

The 28-year-old man arrested on Tuesday is alleged to have been a passenger in the car at the time of the shooting.
