Another accomplishment: James Harden is just the 4th player in NBA history to reach 2,200 points in a season’s first 61 games

The reigning MVP keeps racking up accomplishments after accomplishments. James Harden has now become just the 4th player in NBA history to score more than 2,200 points in the first 61 games of a season.

The 29-year old superstar had 31 points against the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night — and he only played 32 minutes! He was also nursing a hurt wrist!

So far this season, with his league-leading 2,230 total points, Harden is averaging 36.6 points per game.

Harden has also scored the most points per game (61 against the New York Knicks in January) and has added another five games of 50+ points. Just look at how this stat below compares to other NBA scoring stars. (h/t @NBA for the graphic)

The Beard’s recently had a streak of 34 straight games with 30 or more points, the second-longest in NBA history.

It looks like he is about to go on a new streak of 30-plus point games, currently with five. During this stretch, he is averaging more than 39 points per game, shooting 44 percent from the field and making more than four 3-pointers per game.

So do we think he’s the MVP again this season? At one point in December, the Rockets were 11-25 and near the bottom of the Western Conference. They’re now 40-25 and in 3rd place — and the team has Harden to thank for that.
