Another 23 people have died after testing positive for coronavirus in Greater Manchester's hospitals

A further 23 people have died in Greater Manchester's hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus.

It brings the region's hospital death toll to 5,191.

According to the latest NHS data, a further nine deaths were recorded at the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust in the last 24 hours.

Nine further deaths were also recorded at the Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.

Three deaths were reported at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and one further death was recorded at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust.

Another death was also reported at the The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.

The total number of coronavirus deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester, as of Sunday, February 7, are:

  • Bolton NHS Foundation Trust - 568

  • Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - 9

  • Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 1,001 (+9)

  • NHS Nightingale Hospital North West - 6

  • Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust - 1,415

  • Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust - 7

  • Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - 441 (+3)

  • Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 482 (+9)

  • Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 522 (+1)

  • The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 24 (+1)

  • Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 715

NHS England announced a further 410 deaths, bringing the total number of fatalities in NHS hospitals in England to 75,767.

Each day the NHS in England publishes the number of deaths recorded by each hospital trust in the last 24-hour period.

These are deaths where the person had tested positive for the virus or where COVID-19 was mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS England's daily figures sometimes include previously uncounted deaths that took place several days - or even weeks ago.

They do not include deaths in care homes or community settings.
