Another 19 people have died in Greater Manchester's hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus

A further 19 people have died in Greater Manchester's hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus.

The region's hospital death has risen to 5,141, the latest NHS figures show.

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust recorded five more deaths each.

Four more Covid-related deaths were confirmed at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust while the Royal Bolton recorded three.

Two more deaths were recorded at Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.

The total number of coronavirus deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester, as of Friday, February 5, are:

  • Bolton NHS Foundation Trust - 566 (+3)
  • Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - 9
  • Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 991 (+5)
  • NHS Nightingale Hospital North West - 6
  • Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust - 1,408 (+2)
  • Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust - 7
  • Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - 438 (+4)
  • Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 457
  • Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 521 (+5)
  • The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 23
  • Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 714

Nationally another 537 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 74,786.

Patients were aged between 15 and 100 years old. All except 21 (aged 45 to 98 years old) had known underlying health conditions.

Date of death ranges from December 17 to February 4 with the majority being on or after February 1.
