Another 173 Covid cases confirmed across Bristol region - latest breakdown

Another 173 coronavirus cases have been confirmed across the Bristol region in the past 24 hours.

Government figures show Bristol reported the biggest rise, with 79 positive lab tests.

This number is lower than yesterday's 90, and Sunday's 96, but still remains above figures recorded over the past few months.

Bristol's Covid rate per 100,000 people now stands at 79, slightly above the national average of 69.9 and more than double the South West's 36.9.

South Gloucestershire confirmed the second-highest increase of 45. This district's rate is now 52.6 after 150 cases were reported between June 3 to 10.

Bath and North East Somerset saw a jump of 27 cases today (June 15), bringing this district's rate to 44.5.

And North Somerset reported a further 22 cases. Its rate stands at 38.1.

The number of positive test results in each area since the pandemic began is recorded below, with new positive test results in brackets.

  • Bristol: 31,901 (+79)
  • Bath and North East Somerset: 8,520 (+27)
  • North Somerset: 10,335 (+22)
  • South Gloucestershire: 15,631 (+45)

The number of deaths within 28 days of a positive test result in each area since the pandemic began is recorded below, with new deaths, and deaths removed from the total following revisions to past data, in brackets.

  • Bristol: 471 (-)
  • Bath and North East Somerset: 218 (-)
  • North Somerset: 315 (-)
  • South Gloucestershire: 353 (-)

Vaccinations

Government data up to June 14 shows that of the 72,040,763 jabs given in the UK so far, 41,831,056 were first doses – a rise of 132,627 on the previous day.

Some 30,209,707 were second doses, an increase of 235,928.
