Another 14,000 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus have been recorded in the UK in the last 24 hours.
The number of deaths has also increased by 70 - down by six on Tuesday but significantly higher than Monday's figure of 19.
The government said that, as of 9am on Wednesday, there had been a further 14,162 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK - down by just 380 on Tuesday.
This takes the overall number of cases confirmed to 544,275.
A further 70 people have died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Wednesday.
This brings the UK total to 42,515.
Separate figures published by the UK's statistics agencies show there have now been 57,600 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
Figures also reveal that there are now 376 patients on ventilation - down by 16 - and a total of 2,944 in hospital - an increase of 111 on Tuesday and up from 1,958 a week ago.
All figures are based on Public Health England data published on Wednesday.
