Another 12 COVID-19 deaths in Queensland

Chief Health Officer John Gerrard expects hospitalisation rates to continue to significantly fall. (AAP)

Queensland has recorded 12 COVID-19 deaths and 10,391 new cases.

There are 833 patients being treated for COVID-19 in hospital - down from 818 on Friday - and another 53 in intensive care.

Chief Health Officer John Gerrard said of the 12 deaths, four were unvaccinated, two had one dose, five had two jabs and none had boosters.

One was aged in their 60s, two in their 70s, six in their 80s and three in their 90s.

Dr Gerrard expected hospitalisation rates to continue to significantly fall across the state by next week after being much lower than initially expected.

But he warned: "This is the peak, not the end, we are in the middle.

"The virus has clearly spread through the younger age group ... and now (the older) age group are most vulnerable.

"The unknown is what happens as those (hospitalisation) numbers decline, what the tail of that looks like.

"It's not totally clear what the next phase is, but the numbers will decline substantially."

The latest figures show that 91.93 per cent of eligible Queenslanders have had one dose of a vaccine, while 89.40 per cent have had two.
