Anonymous figure still fighting to keep name out of Jeffrey Epstein court documents

NEW YORK _ An anonymous figure linked to the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking scandal is still fighting to keep his name from becoming public, citing "irresponsible, sensationalist reporting."

Nicholas Lewin, the mystery litigant's attorney, argued that papers filed in a defamation suit brought by Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre against the financier's alleged madame, Ghislaine Maxwell, should remain under seal.

"Unsealing references to non-parties would throw those non-parties into the middle of this frenzy, and unfairly do irreparable harm to their privacy and reputational interests," Lewin wrote.

"The careless regurgitation of allegations ... has the potential to permanently and unjustifiably harm non-parties and their families."

The letter was filed ahead of a hearing on Wednesday regarding protocol for unsealing more records in the Giuffre v. Maxwell case. The anonymous figure opposes making more documents public.

An earlier batch of unsealed records in the case revealed new accusations against former New Mexico Sen. Bill Richardson and former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell. Both men denied ever having seen underage girls during interactions with the depraved financier.

The mystery figure unsuccessfully fought against releasing those papers to the public.
