An annual furin-ichi, or wind chime fair, began Wednesday at Kaswasaki Daishi Heikenji temple in Kawasaki, featuring about 30,000 chimes from all over the country.
The fair brings together local furin from all 47 prefectures, such as Dosanko furin from Hokkaido and Okinawa Bidoro furin from Okinawa Prefecture, as well as the temple's original Yakuyoke Daruma furin. In total, about 900 types can be seen at the fair through Sunday.
Visitors on Wednesday enjoyed listening to the sounds and took pictures.
"It's fun to hear the different sounds [of the furin]," said a 26-year-old company employee from Miura, Kanagawa Prefecture. "I can't wait for summer to really start," they said.
Temperatures in the Kanto region are expected to rise over the weekend, and about 300,000 people are projected to visit the fair.
