Annual firefighter spectacle goes online

The Tokyo Fire Department's New Year ceremony took place at the Tokyo Rinkai Disaster Prevention Park in Koto Ward without an audience for the first time due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Members of the Edo Firemanship Preservation Association performed their trademark acrobatic stunts during the ceremony on Wednesday, which was live-streamed on YouTube and featured about 1,300 participants, 700 fewer than last year.
