Annual Christmas Eve Reindeer feeding event cancelled by Fingal County Council

Fingal County Council has revealed the heartbreaking news that the annual Christmas Eve Reindeer feeding event has been cancelled.

The reason for the sudden cancellation is because of the growing volume of people who attended last year.

The event has now become a crowd safety issue as a staggering 5,000 people were in attendance in 2018.

In a statement, Fingal County Council said: "It is regrettable that the Council is not in a position to host the annual Christmas Eve Reindeer feeding as has been the case for the past number of years.

"What started out as a local, low key, informal event has now grown into a family occasion where in excess of 5,000 people attended in 2018."

They continued: "This volume of attendees has raised crowd safety and traffic management concerns, both within the Demesne and on the adjacent road network.

"It is envisaged that this event will return in 2020 with the completion of the road network improvements in the area and allow for adequate event licencing permissions and traffic management plans to be in place."

They concluded: "Fingal County Council sincerely apologises for any disappointment caused."
