Leeds United have taken a very creative approach to filling the void for their fans wanting to an instant return to football.
The Championship, the rest of the EFL and the Premier League have been suspended until April 3, meaning that Marcelo Bielsa’s trip to Cardiff City, that was meant to be going to be taking place this afternoon, did not go ahead.
However, the media team at Leeds did not want to keep their fans without their Sunday football fix and instead, opted to use FIFA 20 to simulate the result of the Whites’ meeting the game.
Leeds streamed the simulation via Twitter and it has gone down very well with supporters. As well as showing the full simulation, they also did team news, showed highlights of goals and more via a Twitter thread.
Bielsa’s side were victorious in the simulation, beating Cardiff 3-1. Patrick Bamford scored twice before for the Whites, whilst Jack Harrison added a third from free-kick in the second half.
Fans were loving the action and that Leeds were given the virtual three points. Here is how their fans reacted to this afternoon’s stream.
The simulation has already had more than 150,000 views across Twitter and Periscope so far.
