'Announce Pontus Jansson!' - Leeds United and Brentford fans baffled by reports of £5.5m move

The summer transfer window always throws up a few surprises, but it seems that we could be heading towards a real head-scratcher.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Pontus Jansson is set to leave Leeds United in the next 48 hours.

The defender was a key part of Marcelo Bielsa's side who narrowly missed out on automatic promotion before being dumped out of the play-offs by Derby County.

The 28-year-old was regarded as one of the best central defenders in the Championship last term, but after reports of unrest behind the scenes at Elland Road it seems he will be allowed to move on for a reported fee of £5.5million.

For a player of Jansson's calibre you'd expect a number of clubs to come knocking, but it's been reported that Brentford are leading the race for the Sweden international.

Signing a player like Jansson would be a real coup for the Bees, but with rumours of a move starting to gather pace, it's left fans somewhat baffled.
