Kepa Arrizabalaga had another horror moment in Chelsea’s latest Premier League clash with Liverpool.
The Spanish goalkeeper, who was questioned in the opening day victory over Brighton & Hove Albion, presented Sadio Mane with a real gift in the second half of the game at Stamford Bridge.
Fikayo Tomori played the ball back to Kepa in his own box, the goalkeeper took a touch and tried to play it forward, only to see his attempted pass easily cut out by Mane. The Liverpool player had the simplest of tasks to tap home.
That goal made it 2-0 to the current champions at Stamford Bridge after 54 minutes, just four minutes after Mane had powered home a header.
It comes as Chelsea continue to be linked with Rennes stopper Edouard Mendy, who appears to be closing in on a move.
And that couldn’t come quick enough for Chelsea fans. Here's what they said on social media after Kepa's mistake.
@norman_a99: Announce Mendy
@trmurerekwa: We wont challenge for anything with Kepa...
@SeanDxve_: If you don't announce Mendy this night...
@Sawamura_OJ: Hello, is this Mendy? Send Help!!!
@iamthabiso_j: Goalkeeper lacking confidence, this was bound to happen
@iamwackelkopf: Last nail in the coffin. Announce Mendy. Kepa is just not the one.
@chrisaugust15: That is the end for Kepa .
@VintageMAk: Nobody will ever say that Kepa did not have his chance(s). Eduoard Mendy should start next game. I don't care if he's had his medicals or not.
@CFCTrenzs_: The amount of pain Kepa Arrizabalaga has caused me in the last two seasons, I’m almost numb to it now. Mendy couldn’t come soon enough.
