Giovani Lo Celso to Tottenham has been one of the protracted transfer sagas of the summer.
Spurs have been heavily linked with the Argentine throughout the summer transfer window, with the Real Betis player said to be keen to make the move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in order to play under fellow countryman Mauricio Pochettino.
Talks between the two clubs have been ongoing, but Spurs looked to have been dealt a blow when Lo Celso was included in the Real Betis squad for their pre-season tour of Morocco, having not been included in the club's last squad for their tour of Mexico.
That caused excitement among Spurs fans and speculation that a deal to take him to north London may be close, but the omission was likely to be due to an extended break after the Copa America.
However, the Daily Record are this evening (Sunday) reporting that a deal has been agreed between the two clubs, with the Argentina international set to cost an initial €52million, with a further €8million in performance-related add-ons.
That would not eclipse the deal that Tottenham agreed to sign Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon earlier this summer, with the Frenchman becoming the club's record signing, for a fee of €62million, with a further €10million in add-ons.
However, suggestions that a deal for Lo Celso is now close has got Spurs fans excited, with some supporters of the Lilywhites relishing the prospect of seeing the 23-year-old at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Here's what some Spurs fans have been saying on social networking website Twitter.
However, not all Spurs fans are allowing themselves to get too excited, such has been the nature of the transfer saga involving Lo Celso this summer.
