Anno Distillers launches ‘world’s strongest’ gin with 95% ABV

A company has just launched the world's strongest gin in time for the festive season.

Available to UK shoppers online, the Anno Extreme 95 gin boasts an impressive 95% ABV (alcohol by volume).

The new tipple was created by two scientists, who left behind their jobs almost a decade ago to pursue their passion for craft spirits, and can be snapped up for a reasonable £30 at annodistillers.com.

The Kent-based company says: "Developed by scientists with a taste for adventure and pushing the limits of possibility, Anno Extreme 95 Gin was produced with one goal in mind - to create 'the spirit of alchemy'.

"A gin that packs more punch and flavour, drop for drop, than any other spirit in the world.

"We use an extended distillation with a mix of steeped and vapour infused botanicals to extract huge flavour, packed into a 20cl bottle."

The Anno Extreme 95 gin surpasses the previous 'world’s strongest gin' from Swedish company Smögen, which was created with an ABV of 82.5%.

Meanwhile, Gordon's London Dry Gin (£15.49) has an ABV of 37.5%.

The label on the bottle even features a warning so drinkers have an idea of what they're dealing with.

If you're brave enough to try it, the gin has a "smooth juniper-forward and subtly citrus" taste with "hints of liquorice".

Anno Distillers recommends serving it as a ‘light G&T’ using only 5ml of the gin, an Indian tonic water and a slice of grapefruit to garnish.

With the second national lockdown underway, many of us could no doubt do with a strong gin and tonic. So why not treat yourself?

If you're looking for festive tipples, Aldi is selling gingerbread mulled wine for under £4 a bottle - just in time for the Christmas period.
