Annika filming: Camera crews line up by River Clyde to shoot new TV show starring Nicola Walker

Filming for a highly-anticipated new TV Series is taking place in the city centre this evening, with camera crews spotted lining up by the Clyde.

As previously reported, the filming of Annika in Glasgow started earlier this week, with city streets set to be shut off for the series to be shot.

The show, which stars Unforgotten lead Nicola Walker, is adapted from the successful Radio 4 drama and is based on brutal murders that wash up in the waterways of Scotland.

Olivier-award-winner Nicola Walker, who also starred in The Split and Unforgotten, will bring the main character DI Annika Strandhed to life. Walker also voiced Annika during the audio series.

Also joining the cast are Jamie Lives (Guilt), Katie Leung (The Nest), Ukweli Roach (Blindspot) and Kate Dickie (The Cry).

Annika follows DI Standhed as she heads up a new specialist Marine Homocide Unit (MHU) that is tasked with investigating the unexplained and 'seemingly unfathomable' murders in Scotland. A 'Marine Homicide Unit' van has been pictured by the Clyde this evening.

Earlier this week, we told of how Nicola Walker has been living in a huge Glasgow flat during lockdown, as she also revealed to Graham Norton they had been shooting scenes on Loch Lomond.

Annika will be filmed in various locations around the city including Partick, Bellahouston and High Street until March 21.

Annika is due to air on Alibi - the only TV channel in the UK dedicated to crime drama - later this year.
