Strictly's Anneka Rice asks partner Kevin and girlfriend Stacey Dooley for supper

Anneka Rice has invited Stacey Dooley over for supper to ask for top tips after pairing with Kevin Clifton – and one piece of advice could be on the Strictly curse.

The Challenge Anneka star, 60, made a beeline for last year’s winner during filming for the BBC show’s launch.

Stacey, 32, who split from her boyfriend after meeting Kevin on the show last year, was in the studio to do a new version of last year’s winning Paso Doble dance.

The presenter described Anneka as “brilliant”, saying: “She went, ‘Darling, we have to have supper, we can have supper soirees’.”

Anneka, who is dating screenwriter Simon Bell, wants tips after admitting she is yet to grasp the lingo.

Stacey added: “She said, ‘I can’t chasse, they keep asking me to chasse and I don’t know what it is.’ She is so lovely. The loveliest lady.”

But Stacey admitted she is not normally a supper person.

She laughed: “I’ve never had supper in my life. I’ve had tea and toast.”

Pressed on the curse that has struck celebrities’ love lives after they fall for their professional partners, she said her relationship is the showbiz equivalent of “meeting people at work”.

Stacey added: “Life is too short. You have to do what’s going to make you happy.”

She was in a relationship with personal trainer Sam Tucknott, who branded Kevin a “rat” when they split and Stacey fell for the 36-year-old dancer.

During Saturday’s Strictly Come Dancing , judge Craig Revel Horwood joked of her win: “Stacey was dragged up from the dance gutter... if you sleep with your dance partner, that helps.”

He later apologised, saying: “What I said was hurtful, cruel and incredibly disrespectful.”

  • Strictly Come Dancing, Saturday, BBC, 7pm.
