Anne Robinson mocks McDonald's worker's Scottish accent in savage Weakest Link clip

Anne Robinson mercilessly mocks a McDonald's worker's Scottish accent and hair extensions in a resurfaced clip from an episode of The Weakest link.

The TV presenter, who was dubbed 'The Queen of Mean', would regularly have contestants trembling in the studio with her savage put downs.

Since news broke that Anne will be the first ever female Countdown presenter, old clips from The Weakest Link have resurfaced online with fans in disbelief that the insults were allowed to air.

One such video saw the 76-year-old TV veteran mimic a Scottish student's accent before making taunting jibes at her appearance.

The clip, from 2011, was posted to Tik Tok and was branded 'cruel'.

The TV presenter was dubbed 'The Queen of Mean' (The Weakest Link/BBC)

During the episode, Anne had asked a contestant named Jenn, from East Kilbride, what she does - who explained she went to university and worked in McDonald's.

"You're going to have to speak a bit more slowly," Anne replied with an eye-roll.

She went on: "What do you do at McDonalds?"

Jenn replied: "I work at the drive-thru serving customers."

"Where's the drive-thru?" Anne asked, with Jenn responding: "Eh, at the side of the building."

In a patronising tone, Anne grilled: "And yes, where would that building be, Jenn?"

"Oh, in East Kilbride," replied Jenn.

"In East Kilbride? I'll translate," Anne said before turning to look down camera. "It's in East Kilbride. It's a drive-thru."

She went on: "So if I drive up and I say 'Jenn, I'm on a diet. What shall I have?'"

Jenn replied nervously: "Well I'd say we do grilled chicken salad."

"Grilled chicken salad?" Anne mocked in her attempt at a Scottish accent.

The Weakest Link host then turned her attention to the student's appearance and gestured to her blonde hair. She asked: "Is there a reason you've got two different bits of hair?"

Jenn replied: "It's clip-in hair extensions.

"It's clip-in hair extensions?" Anne said, once again mocking her accent. "And who puts in the clip-in hair extensions?"

She then taunted: "You don't go to a hairdresser?"

It comes after The Weakest Link host was criticised for making offensive comments about single mums, those on benefits, lesbians and divorced women.

A clip from the show, posted on Twitter, was branded disgusting after it showed the mum being shamed with taunting jibes.

More than 15,000 contestants had to face Anne's brutal insults across 1,700 shows during The Weakest Link's 13-series stint.

At the time, the BBC hit back at claims of taking it too far by suggesting it was 'light-hearted banter' and Anne's chats were 'tongue-in-cheek.
