Anne Hegerty tells off Andrea McLean after she lets slip about The Chase spin-off spoiler

The Chase legend Anne Hegerty gave Andrea McLean a ticking off after she let slip something she wasn't supposed to say about new show Beat The Chasers.

The 61-year-old, also known as The Governess, appeared on Loose Women today to promote the new programme.

But things got a little awkward when Andrea began to tell viewers when the show was on - only for Anne to interrupt her and say that ITV had told her that they weren't supposed to have revealed that.

A bemused Andrea responded that Loose Women had never been given the memo.

Halfway through the interview, Andrea said: "There's a new show called Beat The Chasers, it's starting April 27th at 9 o'clock on ITV..."

"Woah, wait a second," Anne interrupted. "You weren't actually supposed to say that."

Andrea replied: "Was I not? Oh ok then."

Anne explained: "I've had a request from ITV - please do not reveal the date at which it starts."

Laughing, Andrea responded: "Oh, ok, we didn't get that memo! Rewind, rewind."

Co-star Denise Welch jumped in to ask Anne what the premise was and she replied: "The idea is that it's a spin-off from The Chase. You have one person down the bottom who are asking questions to get to a maximum of £5,000.

"And then they can choose to take on. They get one minute, they can choose to take on two, three, four or five Chasers - give an order."

Carol McGiffin quipped: "Five of you lot? They don't stand a chance!"

*Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV
