Anne Hegerty shuts down viewers moaning about her 'slow' performance on Beat The Chasers

Chaser Anne Hegerty has shut down Beat The Chasers viewers after people complained about her buzzer being 'broken'.

The new ITV show, which airs at 9pm on weekdays, sees contestants choose how many Chasers they want to face.

Viewers complained that Anne was being too slow to answer any of the questions (ITV)

Host Bradley Walsh asks each player a round of questions, before the Chasers make their offers.

The more money the player goes for, the more Chasers they take on.

Viewers have praised the new show for being "intensely dramatic and highly entertaining".

But some were left complaining about Anne's performance, with one saying: "Has Anne got a buzzer? #BeatTheChasers"

Another commented: "Is Anne's buzzer working?"

A third said: "Anne has all the jokes but not the answers!"

"#Beatthechasers, what would be the offer for Anne to answer a question?" said another.

But the quiz master, also known as 'The Governess' on the show, has shut down those who were moaning about her performance.

Posting on Twitter after the show, she said: "To those asking if my buzzer is working. It is working, I do know (most of) the answers, I'm just slow. #BeatTheChasers."

Replying to one comment on the post, she wrote: "It's a combo of autistic executive dysfunction, and females not having male fast-twitch muscle fibres."

Fans of The Governess rushed to praise her, with one saying: "You're still the best, Anne! We love you!"

Another wrote: "People can be so rude on twitter for no reason, would like to see them take you on one-on-one, bet they wouldn’t be so brave then! you’re amazing!"

A third said: "You might not be the first off the buzzer but you've stolen the show!"

Beat The Chasers continues weekdays on ITV at 9pm.
