Anne Hegerty has revealed some exciting news away from her familiar role as The Governess on ITV’s The Chase. Speaking at the National Television Awards, the quiz show star told The Independent she will be appearing in a horror film called Deadcast.
She explained the production team are still crowdfunding to get the project finished but admitted she would love to do more acting in the future. “I would love to. That’d be great fun… one’s always hopeful,” she said on the red carpet.
The announcement came on a night when The Chase was once again in the running for the Quiz Show prize at the NTAs. Hosted by Bradley Walsh and featuring Anne alongside fellow Chasers Jenny Ryan, Paul Sinha, Darragh Ennis, Mark Labbett and Shaun Wallace, the long-running show has been a fixture on British TV since 2009, reported the Express.

Contestants face off against the Chasers in quick-fire rounds for the chance to take home a cash prize, while fans have also been treated to spin-off series Beat the Chasers. But despite its huge popularity, this year’s NTA award went to The 1% Club, beating both The Chase and rivals The Wheel and House of Games.
Anne, who has played The Governess since 2010, has built a reputation as one of the most formidable Chasers on the show. Each Chaser has their own persona and devoted fan following, sparking constant debate about who is the ultimate quiz master.
Earlier this year, Betway analysed statistics including win rate, accuracy and highest targets caught to determine which Chaser comes out on top.
According to the data, Anne is officially the best. She has taken part in 467 episodes and boasts a 79% win rate, the joint highest of any Chaser, cementing her reputation as the toughest opponent to beat.
Mark Labbett, known as The Beast, follows close behind with a 76% win rate from 475 appearances. He holds the record for the highest average target to beat at 20, and has the best accuracy in the final chase, answering 83% of questions correctly.
Financially though, Paul Sinha, aka The Sinnerman, is the standout. With a 78% win rate across 436 appearances, his average target to beat is 19. He has the highest average Chaser win total, pulling in £14,651, which makes him the most financially successful Chaser to date.
Despite the numbers, Anne remains the top-ranked Chaser overall and her fans will no doubt be thrilled to see her taking on a brand-new challenge in Deadcast. The Governess might have dominated TV quiz land for over a decade, but with her eye now on the big screen, viewers could soon see another side to her.
