Anne Hegerty and Bradley Walsh left 'disgusted' with The Chase contestant's decision

The Chase's Anne Hegerty and Bradley Walsh were left 'disgusted' with a contestant's decision that cost her team thousands.

Gemma, a 31-year-old from the Isle of Wight, successfully scored £4,000 in her cash builder round before squaring off against Anne 'The Governess' Hegerty.

Anne went on to offer Gemma a low offer of £1,000 and a hefty high offer of £40,000, the Liverpool Echo reports.

It was the decision Gemma made - which you can watch in the video above - that left both Anne, Bradley and viewers 'disgusted'.

Gemma had previously advised her fellow contestant and teammate Neil to 'go high' so Anne predicted she would take the £40,000 herself.

But Gemma instead said: "£40,000 is so tempting and I did tell Neil to go high. Ben's done brilliant, but I want to get back so I'm going to take the £1,000."

Bradley and Anne looked stunned and Anne said: "I'm just quietly disgusted."

The Chase viewers were quick to jump onto social media to discuss Gemma's decision and Anne's brutal reaction.

One wrote on Twitter: "I’m just quietly disgusted IS THE BEST LINE OF THE SERIES!!! @anne_hegerty #TheChase."

"Love the "go high or go home" from Gemma and she then takes the low offer. Hopefully you'll be going home then you hypocrite," another added.

A third penned: "Absolute snake on  # TheChase   telling someone to go for the high offer, getting him binned and then taking the low offer herself."

Despite going low Gemma failed to get past The Chaser and went home with nothing, leaving viewers thrilled.

"Karma," one simply wrote on Twitter.

Anne is known as The Governess and is one of five Chasers used by the show each weeknight from 5pm.

Anne is a former I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here campmate and the Chaser line-up is completed by Paul Sinha, also known as the Sinnerman.

The Chase airs weeknights at 5pm on ITV.
