Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway has revealed she's quit boozing because it was making her 'unavailable' for her son.
The 36-year-old Devil Wears Prada star believes if she'd not found fame she would have ended up an alcoholic, and says day drinking sessions were leaving her with five-day hangovers.
Now, she has now vowed not to touch another drop for the next 18 years while she raises son Jonathan, three, with husband Adam Shulman.
"I feel like a traitor. My issue is I just love it. So. Much," she told Tatler of her attitude towards drinking.
"But the way I do it makes me unavailable for my son. My last hangover lasted for five days."
Admitting she was never a one glass of wine kind of girl, she said daytime sessions would often carry on through into the evening.
Of the last time she got drunk, she said, "I'd earned it: it was a day drinking session with friends that went into an evening birthday party with one of my drinking buddies.
"I will never be that person who can nurse a glass of wine throughout an entire evening."
Speaking about how her future could have panned out if she'd not made it in Hollywood, Anne added: "I could have seen myself being a teacher. Or going into the military. Or being some kind of do-gooder with a death wish.
"But more likely than anything else I would have been an alcoholic."
