Annan runner taking on virtual Lands End to John O'Groats challenge for charity

Annan runner Grant Seaton is taking on a virtual Lands End to John O’Groats challenge to raise funds for four charities which are close to his heart.

The 44-year-old community fundraiser has hardly caught his breath after taking part in the first virtual Virgin Money London Marathon in October and is now clocking up between 70 and 100 miles each week in the LEJOG Challenge.

He said: “This year’s challenge needs to be different as, let’s face it, life is different.

“One thing that doesn’t change though is that the third sector needs to be supported and actually now more than ever before. I have chosen four charities that all mean a lot to me for different reasons and are all worthy of the effort it will take to complete the challenge.”

He needs to complete 874 miles – the equivalent of the distance from Lands End to John O’Groats – and he’s been pounding the streets around Annan and district.

Grant has also been raising awareness of the charities he is running for – stillborn and neonatal death organisation Sands; Crohn’s and Colitus UK; Calvert Trust outdoor centre for people with disabilities delivering activity breaks for schools, groups, families and individuals; and Carlisle Youth Zone.

He has set a target of £2,000 – to give each £500 – and is already beyond the half-way mark. To donate, visit https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/grantseaton2.
