Annan duo team up to offer delivery service providing food supplies during coronavirus pandemic

Annan duo Ian Murray and Martin Starr have teamed up to offer a delivery service for people who need food supplies.

Ian has turned delivery driver while Martin takes orders over the phone from anyone in the town and surrounding areas who cannot get to Tesco.

Ian’s Station Hotel business is currently closed but he is still running Murray’s Taxi service.

After hearing how people of all ages in the town were in isolation or lockdown because of the coronavirus crisis he decided he could help.

Martin works at the town’s Tesco supermarket but is currently in isolation because he is recovering from cancer.

Ian said: “It feels good that we can do something to help in this current time.

“When we started on Thursday we were given a £150 donation to cover free deliveries and now we are charging just £3 anywhere in Annan and £5 to outlying areas like Newbie, Powfoot, Brydekirk and so on.

“It is proving very popular and is helping prevent the social isolation queues to get into the Tesco.

“Ian puts in people’s orders at the store and I collect them and take them out to their homes.”

Ian can be contacted at 07801957778 between 10am-1pm and 2pm-4pm each day to make an order.
