The Royal Burgh of Annan Community Council is reaching out to residents trying to keep their home fire burning this winter.
They have free bags of kindling available for elderly and vulnerable people in the area.
The wood is being distributed by the Community Payback team.
Community councillor Joyce Wylie said: “It is for people in genuine need who are struggling.
“Everybody should be kept warm in winter and this is a service we hope will help those who need it.”
Anyone who would benefit from the free kindling – or knows of someone who might need it – is asked to call Joyce at 01461 202627 or contact any community councillor.
