Annan Athletic play-off hero talks about "magic" end to season

Annan Athletic’s Benji Luissint has spoken about the “magic” end to last season as the Galabankies achieved promotion to League One.

The 24-year-old signed a new one-year deal with the club this week along with three other members of the play-off heroes.

Luissint, who scored a double in the final second leg against Clyde, spoke to the club’s media team after penning the contract.

He said: “The end of this season was magic. Those moments will forever stay with everyone. Not many get the chance to live those kind of moments.

“Now it’s time to rest for a few weeks. I’m looking forward to starting pre-season and competing in League One.”

He added: “I’m delighted to be an Annan player for another season.

“It has been a few weeks now that the decision was made as we agreed this deal before entering the play-offs. It was an easy decision to be honest as I really feel at home here since I arrived in the summer last year.

“We have a strong squad, we play nice football and everything is made around the club for us to succeed, thanks to great fans and the people working around the club.”

Dominic Docherty, Aidan Smith and Tommy Muir have all signed on for next season as well this week.

Docherty, 26, said: “It was a great achievement for everyone involved in the play-offs and the buzz we got from all the support during the four games was second to none.

“I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at Galabank next season in League One.”

Smith added: “Finally getting us promoted through the play-offs after three final losses makes it very exciting to play in League One for Annan.”

Muir said: “Everyone at the club makes it a special place to be and you could really feel that connection between players, staff, volunteers and supporters at the end of last season.

“I’ll remember last season forever and I won’t take it for granted. I’m looking forward to having a right good go at League One and the ups and downs that will bring.”

The four join Scott Hooper, Josh Galloway, Tommy Goss, Wullie Gibson and Chris Johnston in being tied up for next season.
