Annan Athletic hat-trick hero wants more goals in Stranraer clash

Hat-trick hero Tony Wallace is thirsting for more goals when Annan take on Stranraer in this weekend’s clash at Stair Park.

The teams collide on Sunday and Wallace reckons the Galabankies have rapped out warning to the rest of the pack in League Two after an amazing 5-1 defeat of title favourites Kelty Hearts.

Wallace came on as a second half sub and rattled in a rapid treble to pound 10-man Kelty who had Jordon Forster red carded at the interval.

He said: “I think other teams would have been looking at our game with Kelty and thinking that we would drop points, so it is a massive result for us.

“We have gone four league games in a row unbeaten and we want to keep that run going when we go to Stranraer.

“Hopefully we can go there and get the win and I can score again.”

He added: “It was brilliant to get the hat-trick. It has been a long time coming.

“I have scored a couple of braces here at Galabank, but the manager, Peter Murphy, always seems to take me off because I shoot from anywhere.

“That is Kelty’s first defeat of the season and they were the only unbeaten team in Scotland, maybe even the UK.

“So it was brilliant to get the Boxing Day win and especially as you always want to get a victory at Christmas time.”

The Blues managed a 2-2 draw at Galabank last month and Murphy is now looking to pocket all three points in their away day clash.

He said: “That’s four league wins in a row now and we want to keep that run going.

“The boys performed excellently against Kelty Hearts who are a good side.

“It was just disappointing to lose the goal the way we did with a mistake. But we were disciplined the way we played and I asked them to be patient and they were and we caught them on the counter attack a couple of times.”
